I got it from Sylvan Wells, 125$ shipped. Very solid precise unit, though I would like to replace the fine adjustment knob with a tele knob. He has more for those who want one. I've grown tired of the rinkey dink (though admittedly effective ) Dremel after 150+ rosettes. Now I just need to find some 1/4 shank downshear spiral bits...

I meant the router I've made more than 20 of those circle jigs over the years for sale.

Amazon for your bits or find a local machine shop supplier for end mills. Don't look for router bits, you'll pay too much.

Whenever I do use a 1/4" router for small slots, I just use a brass adapter sleeve to reduce it to 1/8". Works great.

If you are interested in 1/8" downward spiral, try roto zip bits, shorten them up to the length you want, grind new relief on the cutting edges and you have relatively cheap bits.

precise bits and Elaire corp make 1/8" collets for most popular routers. Rigid? Not sure. Precision collets are much better than those inserts. I also posted a link for bulk buying of 1/8" bits (last 2 weeks). All of this will work with WK jig and improve ur work.

Ed: I've bought the roto zip bits 16 in a box at less then $2 a bit.

You will probably be OK. But, if after you cut your finer slots <1/16", and you notice wide spots after you insert purfling and sand back, then you might have an issue with runout. Unforunately, Elaire Corp does not make a precision collet for Rigid. Precise Bits does, and it's the same as the Bosch Colt. Maybe you call Elaire and ask if their Bosch Colt Collet will work on the Rigid? Other than that, precisebits has a good one, albiet expensive.

This is the same guy that sells on Ebay (folks mention him in other posts here and on other forums). Reducing from 1/4" to 1 mm is a lot, and you will find like me, that these break a lot. So it can get expensive in a hurry.

Thus far, my favorite bits are fishtail, lightly used, 1/8" shank, 1 mm, 1/16, 3/32, 1/8

I must be missing something here. Don't you all find a 1/4 bit (not just the shank) a bit much for rosette work? I like any initial cuts I make to be much smaller and work my way in or out. If I make any kind of mistake, a small cut is easier to recover from. Perhaps ya'll are talking about something else...

You're right actually, he want 1/4 inch SHANK not TIP.

Do they make 1/4 inch shank bits in tiny cutting diameters?

I do not know if they make them (the really small ones). I went to that site above and they only carry 1/8" (and oddly, one 3/16").

I fixed those links.

I like to use 1/32" bit to start with.....All 1/4 shaft size.

Rod, what do those 1/32 bits cost?

I bought them years ago off a guy on eBay. I'll see if I can find them again.... If I recall they were about $3 each back in 2008 or so....

edit: Don't know what I was thinking yesterday when I posted that the bits were 1/4" shaft. They are 1/8" shaft....
